Meet Our Management Team
Service Refrigeration professionals come from a variety of disciplines. By combining experts in the fields of refrigeration, mechanical HVAC, plumbing, controls, and energy management systems, we have built a team that understands and represents the customers we serve. We invite you to meet our team through the summary bios below.
Rick joined Service Refrigeration in 2015 as the General Manager. His background spans over 30 years in field service businesses including positions of CFO, COO and VP of Sales and Marketing. He has a strong service and parts experience specializing in reducing unscheduled downtime for customers. Rick has lived in Texas for 12 years, most recently moving to Houston from Phoenix to join Service Refrigeration. He is a graduate of the University of New Mexico.
Regional Director of Installation
Matt is responsible for installation for the Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana regions. His responsibilities include working with sales to acquire projects, oversee execution, full financial ownership, and full employee ownership along with direction setting, planning and developing the installation business for the future.
The install group operates out of 3 offices and includes about 100 employees and can have at times up to 40 temp workers. Our work is HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Energy Management and Refrigeration for a wide variety of customers from office buildings and grocery stores to industrial Cold storage.Matt’s background includes over 40 years in construction in three industries; communication, building automation, and refrigeration. He has held the titles of technician (ITT Siemens), Service manager (ITT, Siemens),
Matt’s background includes over 40 years in construction in three industries; communication, building automation, and refrigeration. He has held the titles of technician (ITT Siemens), Service manager (ITT, Siemens), Project Manager (Siemens) and Operations Manager (Siemens) and is a certified Project Manager (PMP) through PMI (Project Management Institute)
Southeast Texas Service Manager
Thomas began his refrigeration career in the construction department back in 1991. Thomas advanced to service technician, engineering/design, and service management. Today Thomas is the Southeast Texas Service Manager.
Gerald A. Moritz
Industrial Group Manager
Gerald started in refrigeration in 1972 after leaving the Army. He worked for 3 years at Ranco Controls research lab before joining Refrigeration Systems. During this same time, he was also an instructor at Columbus Technical Institute for refrigeration theory and system design.
In 1980, Gerald moved to Houston with Atlas A/C. and in 1982, he joined Atlantic Refrigeration, working on ammonia and halocarbon industrial systems ranging from liquid recirculation to centrifugal chillers and large screw process equipment.
Gerald retired in January 2011 before coming to work for Service Refrigeration. He currently serves as Industrial Group Manager.
North Texas and Oklahoma Service Manager
Jason serves as the North Texas and Oklahoma Service Manager. He has 25 years of supermarket refrigeration experience working in all major Grocery Store Chains in DFW. Jason began as an Electrician in 1991 and worked his way up through the trade until he found his home at Service. Jason has worked hard to stabilize and grow the DFW market in his tenure with Service and he takes pride in excellent customer service and high-quality work.
Houston Service Manager
Wayne serves as the Houston Service Manager. In 1999, he was introduced to HVAC as a general maintenance technician, sparking his interest in the trade. Wayne enrolled at Universal Technical Institute where he graduated with honors. He then joined the Service Refrigeration Company in 2001 as a field technician. Since that time, Wayne has run service calls, and within 3 years, has climbed the ladder, building up strong customer relationships before becoming a Service Manager. Since then he has maintained strong relationships with our longstanding refrigeration and HVAC customers and built important relationships with new customers.
EMS Group Manager
Chris is responsible for EMS Sales, Service, and Installation. He joined the Service Refrigeration team in the fall of 2015. Chris’s background is strongly rooted in controls and general construction ranging from residential through Industrial. He holds a degree from Sam Houston State University in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in Construction Management.
Russell A. Speer
Sales Manager Service Refrigeration
Russell Speer is our new Sales Manager for Service Refrigeration in Houston, Texas.
He entered the Commercial Refrigeration Industry in 1980. Russell started his career in installation and has worked in all capacities of refrigeration, food service equipment, cold storage construction, design, sales, project management and FFE purchasing. He owned his own Manufactures Representative Company for 24 years and as a native Houstonian, Russell is very excited to part of the Source Refrigeration Family.
C.J. Bowles is a Construction Manager in the Mid-South Branch where he manages the installation refrigeration on new and remodel projects for HEB, Krogers, and Target. He has been with the company for 9 years. Prior to his time at Service, C. J. spent 12 years as a construction superintendent, building from the ground up and specializing in fast-paced remodel projects. Prior to getting into the superintendent role, he spent 8 years as a licensed Journeyman electrician.
South Texas Service Manager
James serves as the South Texas Service Manager. He started out in the residential air conditioning industry 18 years ago and moved into the commercial HVAC, refrigeration and chillers business. James has been with Service for 8 years.
HVAC Group Manager
Gary joined Service Refrigeration in 1997 to facilitate the startup of the company’s HVAC department, and is currently the HVAC Group Manager. Since that time, the department has grown from one employee to a group that now provides new construction, remodel and retrofit, time and material service work along with HVAC maintenance contracts. Prior to joining Service, Gary owned his own mechanical company from 1979 – 1997. Gary brings over 40 years of complete mechanical experience. He holds an air conditioning license in the state of Texas.
